The Evaluation Institute of the Supreme Education Council (SEC) has released its newly issued report - "School and Schooling in Qatar" 2006 - 2007 containing an array of information about Qatar’s schools, principals, students and their parents for the academic year 2006 -2007.

“This statistical compendium provides stakeholders inside and outside Qatar an understanding of schooling in Qatar,” said Mr. Adel Al Sayed, the Evaluation Institute director. “The data has been compiled based on a number of data sources – parents, students, principals and teachers – collected using school enumeration, school profile, and questionnaires (students, principal, parent and teacher) and presented as per the information provided by the various respondents.”

Mr. Al Sayed added that having the data online is of paramount importance because it provides valuable, comprehensive and referential data to explain the progress made over time, and shed light on the differences between schools. The hard copy of the report will be issued shortly and will be distributed to all schools and other stakeholders.

“The information contained in the report is clear in its contents and goals, the statistical tables juxtaposed systematically to provide comprehensive information to all three school stages (primary, preparatory, secondary) in the Ministry of Education, independent, and private Arabic schools,” said Mrs. Aisha Al Hashemi, the director of the School Evaluation Office. “This report is the third of its kind to be issued by the Evaluation Institute therefore allowing for comparisons over time and identify the progress made easily.”

The report includes more than 256 statistical tables providing separate information based on the three stages of schooling – primary, preparatory and secondary and on the schools systems (Ministry of Education, independent, and private Arabic schools. The report includes information on: students, parents, teachers, principals, school leaders, school facilities, educational findings, teaching modalities, students assessments, homework, academic achievement, students behavior and attitudes, parents interaction and participation with school, and parents and students’ satisfaction. The information also identifies the strengths and weakness in education system and the developments made over time.
