Is it worth your while?
In her weekly column in Al Raya Newspaper, Nora Al Musifri is urging Qatari women, especially recent graduates to accept the challenge of teaching in the Independent Schools and share in the efforts of developing the education system in Qatar. In her call, Al Musifri acknowledges the recent efforts of the Supreme Education Council to amend the operational system in the Independent Schools which creates a conducive environment for women to work in.

“In fair comparison, Independent Schools provide better opportunities for teachers to develop themselves and help them achieve their career objectives which is not the case at the Ministry of Education schools, although the MoE has a shorter working day,” she says

Independent Schools provide a golden opportunity for serious and keen teachers who appreciate their work, because it gives them a chance to develop their talents, attitudes, capabilities as well as spiritual appreciation which might not be available at MoE schools. In addition, qualified and competent and hard working teachers receive fair financial compensations.

“I take this opportunity to call on all Qatari teachers particularly new graduates to join the Independent Schools which appear more secure and prosperous than ever before. By so doing, they will provide the reform with national teachers who have the much needed skills and knowledge at this crucial time. We need Qataris to teach our students how they can benefit from various facilities available in these schools.”

She goes on to ask why Qatari teachers do not give themselves a chance to experience this new system and discover their potential. This is an invitation for you to prove that you are capable of overcoming the challenges and obstacles and ultimately achieving the goal of the education reform.

Yes, "breeding a whole new challenging generation of creative thinkers" can be a Herculean task but a very fulfilling one.As teachers we take pleasure in seeing our students grow academically. From the information I have got about the Independent Schools, it can be quite challenging to work in one of them because I feel that "we are shaping a wet lump of clay" in every student.

Teaching at indepedent schools in Qatar is the desire of any hardworker, sincere and enthusiastic teacher.
I congratulate Qatar with the futer generatins when they armed with knowledge and good conduct.
How can you imagine that the student in his early age can behave as a scholar and can have a perfrmance in studying and creation better than the students at the universities.
I really congratulate Qatar with such schools when directed in the right way
with best regards

Teaching in the Independent school is really enthusiastic and challenging for the really hardworking teachers. Yet Authorities should do much more to imbibe an awareness among Qatari youngsters especially boys regarding the need to get higher education.

I think Nora Al Musifri is right in urging Qatari women to become independent school teachers. Not only does this assist in the development of the education system in Qatar, but it also offers the women a chance to be instruments of the progression of society. They will be able to teach young minds and further enhance their capabilities as well. This will be an experience that will prove to be very valuable and enable them not only to teach, but also to learn from their own students and expand their intellectual and social horizons.
