Do parents benefit from the information contained in the School Report Cards?

The Supreme Education Council’s Evaluation Institute has issued School Reports Cards (SRCs) for Independent, Ministry of Education, and private Arabic schools for the second consecutive year, to help parents and the community generally become more informed about, and thus subsequently more involved with, Qatar’s schools. Apart from aiming at encouraging and empowering parents, the SRC provides a basis by which they can engage with schools and discuss and influence important matters relating to their children’s schooling. Ultimately, this will allow them to make better decisions about their children’s schools and schooling, enabling them to exercise informed choices.

The SRC contain information of academic year 2005-06 compared to the academic year 2004-05 in many areas such as academic performance of students in school based on the results of school’s students on the various aspects of QCEA (Qatar Comprehensive Educational Assessment), parents and students overall satisfaction with school, school activities and services, education practices at schools, teaching approaches, future preparation and other performance indicators.

The information is collected from data sources such as school enumeration, school profile, school questionnaires, principals questionnaires, parents questionnaires, students questionnaires, teachers questionnaires, as well as the QCEA results, and direct observation.
