The Evaluation Institute at Supreme Council of Education started puplishing experimental models of comprehensive educational assessment questions , for the preparations of the national tests which will be held next month, with participants from all independent schools' students, for grades 4th – 11th.
Dr. Hamda Hasan Al-Suleiti, Assistant Director of the Evaluating Institute at the Supreme Education Council, said that such experimental questions will include the four subjects of the comprehensive educational evaluation, i.e., Arabic, English, Science, and Math, and they will be addressed to the students and their parents to closely know the quality of such questions, and to fortify the students' efforts and their wish in performing these test properly, and to demonstrate their real level and to provide them with better results than before.
She called upon students of both gender to view these questions and explore carefully their quality, so as to improve their capabilities and to be able to handle the comprehensive assessment tests without difficulty which are directly connected with the national curricula standards in these four subjects.
Dr, Hamda Al-Suleiti revealed that the Evaluation Institute is preparing these questions in Arabic and English for each school stage in order to distribute them in the coming two weeks on all students of grades 4th – 11th of independent schools. She also said that these experimental questions would be presented to the teachers of both gender in independent schools, accompanied by their respective criteria so as to make the teachers more capable and more knowledgeable of the standards which include a variety of multiple choice questions, essay questions and other types of questions which determine the extent of understanding and awareness of what the students have studied in those four subjects.
It is noteworthy to mention that the comprehensive educational assessment is a set of tests and examinations that go in compliance with the curricula which are achieved every year on students of Independent schools, grades 4th – 11th. Such tests and examination present a very precise view for the performance of both the students and the schools, according to the Qatari national standards, and it provides schools, teachers and students with information about the points of strength and weakness with the students. These test and examinations, which supervised and administered by the Students Assessment Office and Data Collection Management at the Evaluation institute, also provide information about the acquisition of knowledge by students on the general level, students level, and the class levels, through issuing analytical and elaborated reports for the students performance standards, which would contribute to the sound decision making related to developing and promoting the educational process in Qatar.
