Does it promote the choice principle?
The Evaluation Institute of the Supreme Education Council (SEC) recently released four new lists that classify independent schools based on their performance in the Qatar Comprehensive Educational Assessment (QCEA) tests and other criteria.

The lists which are available on the SEC website provides stakeholders – parents, students, schools, teachers - a summary of information on the extent/progress made by schools in terms of implementing the curriculum standards as well as the academic accomplishments for the academic year 2007-08.

These lists will also show aspects of a school’s strengths and weakness. The lists are further color-coded into three - green, red and yellow. Green indicates the areas of the best performing schools, improvement and achievement of the curriculum standards in comparison to other schools and the previous years. Yellow color shows the areas of consistency in the school, and the school is in the middle level while the red shows low performance levels than other schools or a drop in performance from the previous year.
