The HEI to continue providing funds to government employees on scholarship

Number of students per classroom in Independent schools increased

Doha, Qatar – September 19, 2008: In an exceptional move aimed at helping cope with the registration issues at the Independent schools, the Education Institute has announced the increase of the number of students in each classroom in grades 1 to 12 to twenty-six. This step will allow more children to attend the student-centred classrooms which provide lively discussions, hands-on learning, nurture critical thinking and problem solving, team building and research skills which are the hallmarks of the Independent schools.

Deadline for submitting entries for education excellence awards extended


The Education Excellence Day (EED) executive committee has announced that the deadline for submitting entries for the education excellence awards has been extended to October 9, 2008. The Education Excellence Day is held annually under the auspices of HH Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani, chairperson of the Supreme Education Council (SEC). The awards recognize outstanding achievement in different categories including High school graduates; Teachers; Schools; Research project by high school students; University graduates and; Ph.D. holders. view EED website

Educational Projects Section at Ashgal General Authority announced that 19 new Independent Schools with an estimated cost of 950 million riyals will be handed to the Supreme Education Council next month.
