The Supreme Education Council announced the names of operators for the Cohort VII independent schools, thus concluding the final stage in the education development process - Education for A New Era - initiated by the State of Qatar’s in 2002. The development process commenced in the year 2004 with the launch of 18 independent schools (cohort I) and has since opened new cohorts of schools on an annual basis. There are currently 102 schools operating independently. This number will reach 167 with the final addition of 65 schools from cohort VII.

Marking this important occasion, HE Mr. Saad Bin Ibrahim Al Mahmoud, Minister of Education and Higher Education and Secretary General SEC said, “today the independent school system represents the new foundation for the schooling system in our growing nation as it works to compete in the 21st century global economy. Our world-class will help the country fulfil its national vision based on comprehensive and sustainable development.”

On her part, Ms. Sabah al Haidoos, the director of the Education Institute explained that the SEC was devoted to selecting the most capable educational leaderships to guarantee the best education in the State of Qatar. “We believe that success is the path for those who are able to determine their goals and move ahead."The Cohort VII candidates underwent intensive training programs over several stages. An evaluation committee established under the decree issued by HE the Minister of Education, selected the final 65 operators.

Al Haidoos reiterated the commitment of the Education Institute to continue to support the operators, help them achieve their goals and help establish a solid education system that can be seen as role model by other countries.
