Type: News Articles Date: 5 May 2010 An official source at the Higher Education Institute (HEI) of the Supreme Education Council (SEC) revealed that eight Russell group universities have been selected for study in the foundation year. This decision came to assist students familiarize themselves with the new strict education system in the UK and facilitate their transition to join the undergraduate (bachelors) programs. The decision came after an in-depth research conducted by the Higher Education Institute about the different foundation programs. The selection of the universities was based on the following criteria:
The eight universities where students are entitled scholarships on foundation year include University College of London, Imperial College of London, University of Birmingham, University of Manchester, University of Southampton, University of Nottingham, Cardiff University and University of Leeds. The foundation year aims to bridge the gap in qualifications of foreign students who attained general secondary certificates outside of Britain and the requirements needed to join the undergraduate program in Britain The decision of the SEC to approve scholarships for foundation year in eight UK based universities comes to provide the best educational opportunities for students who wish to study in accredited universities abroad. |
