The Schools Evaluation Office of the Evaluation Institute has completed periodic reviews of 15 Cohort IV and a number of Cohort I independent schools. Triennial School Reviews (TSR) identify schools’ achievements, strengths and weaknesses and areas that may require attention and improvement since their inception.
The 2009/10 triennial reviews included those of Al Bayan Educational Complex for Girls, Qatar Technical Secondary Independent School for Boys and Ali bin Abdullah Model Independent School for Boys, which are being evaluated for the second time after completing six years. The TSRs are a key element of the overall evaluation framework, which also includes ongoing school monitoring, school self-review, specially commissioned reviews and annual school report cards. The evaluation framework is designed to four fundamental principles of the reform: it recognizes school autonomy; reflects school variety and individuality; provides a sound basis to guide informed choice about schools; whilst collectively ensuring accountability of schools. Triennial reviews focus on selected areas of school functioning and performance such as leadership and management, teaching and learning, standards and achievements, curriculum and learning environment, staff deployment and development and the relationship between parents, community and the school. The Cohort IV schools reviewed this year include Bilal bin Rabah Model Independent School for Boys, Al Nahda Primary for Girls Independent, Ibn Sina Model Independent School for Boys, Al Huda Primary Independent School for Girls, Ibn Khaldoun Independent Preparatory School for Boys, and Zeinab Preparatory Independent School for Girls, Al Falah Primary Girls Independent, Al Shahaniya Model Independent School for Boys, Hamza Preparatory Independent School for Boys, Al Razi Preparatory Independent School for Boys, Al Khor Independent School for Girls and Al-Rayyan Preparatory School for Girls. Last year, the Evaluation Institute issued the periodical Triennial School Reviews for twelve Cohort III Independent schools for boys and girls. The report also included the review of one school from Cohort II that was not evaluated last year and exceptional reviews of three schools that had poor performance in the last academic year. |
