The Supreme Education Council has begun for the first time the implementation of parallel education program under the independent schooling system. The Education Institute has announced the beginning of registration for Grade 12 students in parallel education (home schooling) program for the academic year 2010/2011 from July 20th -26th 2010. Registration in restricted to Qatari students, Gulf states students and students with Qatari mothers. Registration will take course in all secondary schools during official working hours.

On this occasion, His Excellency Mr. Saad Bin Ibrahim Al Mahmoud, Minister of Education and Higher Education, Secretary-General of the SEC stated that the SEC is keen to link the national education policy with the objectives and plans of the education programs and that this parallel education program marks the beginning of a new promise to produce quality national education outputs particularly among those who were unable to complete their secondary education.

On her part, Ms. Sabah al Haidoos, Director of the Education Institute said that the program offers fair opportunities to students whereby they can receive all the support needed to meet the standards of study without having to attend school on regular basis. She added that a guide book detailing options and possible support mechanisms will soon be issued and distributed among students.

It should be noted that registration is limited to students who succeeded in QSSC exams ( 2009/2010) but wish to improve their overall score and students who failed in QSSC exams ( 2009/2010) and were expelled due to old age or repeated failure. The Documentation required for registration include: Certificate of success – failure or certified cancellation letters, original ID and passport (plus copies) and 2 passport size photos.

The SEC is urging individuals to take advantage of the educational opportunities available by registering on time.
