Al Wakra Independent Preparatory School for Girls recently held a lecture entitled “Potential risks of the Internet” which was delivered by Mr. Ahmed Al Ammari to seventh and eighth grade students in conjunction with the Foundation for Protection of Children and Women. The lecture aimed at creating awareness on the potential dangers of using the Internet.
Mr. Ammari explained the risks students or any Internet users may be exposed to including theft of information, which leads to the theft of passwords, e-mail, credit cards numbers, and important files among other things. The lecturer explained various methods of protection from such dangers while online and how to protect student computers through activating firewall in the system and constant updating apart from using an anti-virus programs. The lecture also explained the role of the Foundation for the Protection of Children and Women, which was established by Her Highness Sheikha Moza bint Nasser Al Missned who is very keen on social issues related to the protection of children and women rights. |
