Due to the importance of preparing qualified teacher assistants to help support teachers elevate outputs in the early learning stage, the Education Institute in close collaboration with the Faculty of Education held a training program in October 2007.

The program aims at preparing teaching assistants to work in Kindergarten through to grade 3. The 376-hour program is divided into 76 hours for theory and 300 hours for field training. The trainee receives a certificate that is accredited by EDI and faculty of Education.

Dr. Karen Kelly the Early Learning (EYE) Program Officer at the Education Institute “kindergarten needs teacher assistants to support teachers at these very important stage. This program is a part of the Education Institute’s policy to implement National Professional Standards in Early Learning. We had 66 applicants, but only 35 got accepted.”

By the end of the program, the trainee will be able to understand the kids growing and learning. Help at ensuring positive learning environment, and also learn about the individual differences, including those with special needs, and help in evaluation process.

The program comprises prominent trainers from Qatar University. Trainees will have the opportunity to be trained in different educational environments and supervised by experts in the field. Qatar University’s Continuous Education Office will evaluate all trainees.
