Eligibility

Admission to the Independent Schools is limited to the following categories:

1. Children of employees of the followings:

Qatari Nationals Amiri Court staff.
GCC Nationals Qatar Central Bank
female Qatari Nationals Qatar Airways
government employees Independent Schools
diplomats working in embassies in Qatar Disabled Children of employees working in the Private Sector.
Saudi Islamic Centre Administrative Development Institute
Gulf Corporation for Industrial consultations in Qatar SEC and the Institutions affiliated to it
AL-Andalus Private Schools. Qatar Foundation.
Holders of temporary residence permit issued by Ministry of Interior in Qatar. Commissions, public institutes and corporation of which the government's owns at least 50% of its capital ( the employee need to bring a letter proving that the government owns 50% of its capital)


2. Other non-Qatari students not in the list above will be required to pay 50% or more of the registration fees providing the availability of places for those students. However, priority will be given to categories listed in point 1.

Required Documentation

New enrollees, past and readmitted students in all grades of public and private schools are required to provide the following documents:

  • Identification card or birth certificate bearing the student personal number + a copy.
  • Original passport showing the pupils' information + a copy. (All non-Qatari students).
  • Original birth certificate + a copy. (All students)
  • A valid temporary residency permit + a copy (For concerned people)
  • Two recent photos. Medical certificate and medical card (medical centers) for first grade students.
  • Employment statement from the parent's employer (children of: Non-Qataris, GCC citizens, female Qataris, temporary residency permit holders) for new pupils and readmission in independent schools only. This statement should be up-to-date and issued one month prior to registration date.

Registration of advancing students to higher grades in the three grade levels must be based on providing certificates issued by independent or MoE schools.

If the school report was issued by schools outside Qatar, or private schools and national schools in Qatar then it needs to be approved by Examination Department at the MOE in accordance with the educational scale used in Qatar


Admission to elementary level should be in accordance with:

Pupils will be accepted into KG1 of the Independent School upon reaching four (4) years of age as of 30th September. Children who do not reach four (4) prior to this date will not be accepted.

Pupils will be accepted into the first grade of the Independent School upon reaching six (6) years of age as of the 30th September. Children who do not reach six (6) prior to this date will not be accepted.

If at the beginning of the school year, the school has places in appropriate grade levels, then the school can admit a pupil who’s date of birth falls between 30 September and 31 December of that year after the approval of the Independent Schools Office.

Transfer of Pupils

1. Private Schools Generally, pupils transferring from Private Schools will be placed in their age appropriate grade in the Independent School. Pupils transferring from Private schools will need to produce an equivalence (validation) certificate from the MoE department.

2. MoE Schools pupils will continue in the same grade as they were in during their time at the MoE school.

3. Independent School pupils will transfer to the same grade as the previous Independent School.

4. Independent to MoE School pupils transfer from independent schools into (MOE) schools after the first or second semester ,they should provide the following:

 

  • The certification published from the independent school must be numerical (for the grades) and not letters ABC,. because the Examination Department and Student Affairs wishes to confirm the student’s evaluation for the first semester.
  • In addition the student must have a letter from the independent school confirming that the school agrees to the student transferring on the basis of the parents’ desire.


Pupil Registration Dates

Pupil Registration will take place from 1 May. Parents will be notified of a place at least one week prior to the end of the school year.

Selection Procedures

  • Schools converting from Ministry of Education to Independent status, pupils enrolled in the old Ministry school will automatically be enrolled in the new Independent School unless their parents explicitly request otherwise. Pupils will continue in the same grades that they were in the old MoE school until completing their education.
  • When there are more pupils requesting admission to the school than the school’s physical capacity can accommodate, a transparent system of selection will be used, priority will be given to:

    1. those pupils already enrolled in that school before converting into an independent school.
    2. students living in catchments area.
    3. students of other independent schools.
    4. siblings of existing pupils enrolled in that school.
    5. Qatari students.
    6. children of schools’ employees.

    schools are not allowed to admit students based on their results in any of the assessment tests.


Registration at school
If a pupil does not attend the school two weeks after the first day of the school year, and parents have not informed the school that there will be a delay in attendance, the school will have the right to cancel the registration. It is the responsibility of the parent to inform the school of any late attendance after the first day of term.
